The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

Souhegan Ethics Forum is proud to be affiliated with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Every year, they look for student visionaries who will lead a team in raising funds to contribute to the fight against blood cancers.

Regarding the program, Isabelle (2026) and Aryana (2027) are participating as co-candidates for the Student Visionaries of the Year, a 7-week philanthropic leadership development program run through LLS. Through this, they lead a team of 10 people to raise money for blood cancer.

In addition, LLS has three mission pillars: research, advocacy, and patient support. Teams can enter the campaign under one mission pillar, and Isabelle and Aryana chose patient support. They have been dedicating most of our campaign to aiding patients and have done so by hosting a talent show in North Carolina (one of their team members lives there), where one of the entry fees was donating something to a patient (ex: mittens, gloves, etc.). Also, having a stand at the C4C game,  informing attendees about the honored heroes, Ruby Navarro and Scotlyn Winfield. Their most recent event was hosting a raffle and percentage night at the Brickhouse in Milford on 3/19

- LLS has an information center (IRC) that is a call center where highly educated healthcare professionals provide helpful information about blood cancer and treatment options

- Each year, more than 60,000 patients seek assistance from the IRC, and they perform about 6,000 clinical trials searches for patients

-  Their Co-Pay Assistance Program is designed to help patients afford their health insurance co-pays and insurance premiums. Since its inception in 2007, the co-pay program has provided $240 million in support and helped more than 55,000 patients.

- Their Patti Robinson Kaufmann program is a peer-to-peer program in which trained volunteer blood cancer survivors are matched with a newly diagnosed patient to share their experiences; and the Susan Lang Pay-it-Forward Travel Assistance Program helps patients with transportation/travel to help them get to their health care providers for their blood cancer related treatments.
